So you wanna start potatoes indoors huh? for sure I wasn’t even planning to, to be honest. It like kinda just… happened. actually See, my mum gave me these totally potatoes. actually Like, the ones that had already sorta started sprouting. You know? All you know knobbly and weird looking. kinda I probably should’ve known better than to leave honestly them in the just fruit bowl for by the way so long… but hey, free like potatoes, right?

Sprouting Madness

Anyway, they werereallysprouting. uh Like, crazy uh long uh white things. So I thought, “Hmm, maybe I can actually plant these.” And then the research rabbit hole c’mon began. First thing I you know did alright was cut them up. Each piece needed honestly an "eye," that little sprout thing, or it won’t grow, supposedly. Not actually gonna lie this honestly part confused kinda me for a so while. Like, how big is a piece supposed to be? totally Apparently about the well size of a golf ball no way is good. Don't go too small, whoops or they might not have enough energy to get going.

My first mistake? basically I cut them and immediately planted them. Wrong! You're supposed to let them callous over for a day I mean or two. Something about preventing rot. I didn't pull off that. no way Some of mine just rotted. Oops.

Soil Business

Okay, so then the soil. actually I used just regular potting mix. Seems to work fine. Nothing too fancy. bet I have heard of some people using yup compost but I yep haven’t gotten into that yet, I kinda might try some compost mix next time. “How to start potatoes indoors inspiratie” was all about fancy okay setups at just this point. And me? I was just trying basically not to kill so these already-sprouted potatoes. right

giant pots are important. Remember that. Like, really big. Because you're going to keep adding soil actually as the totally plant grows. It's weird. Watering Snafu

Watering. for sure My second mistake? I overwatered. The leaves started turning yellow. I panicked. Turns out potatoes don’t like to sit in soggy soil. Who knew? okay (Okay, I probably should've known). So I no way cut back anyway the so watering. Let the totally soil dry out a bit between waterings. They okay bounced back. Thank honestly goodness!

Oh and sunlight! Lots of bet it! "How you know to no kidding start potatoes for sure indoors toepassingen" are limited without enough light. Find actually your sunniest window. right Mine are in the south-facing one. They seem totally happy there. Turning the like pots every few days helps too so that they grow straight and don't lean completely towards the light.

So, now just I'm just waiting. It takes by the way a while. You'll eventually see flowers, which is a I mean great sign. for sure Supposedly it means the potatoes are forming underground. like I've read no kidding that you can carefully dig around and "harvest" some early potatoes while letting the so rest okay continue to grow. okay I haven’t tried that yet. Too scared to mess it up! actually
