Is sambucol safe to take during pregnancy

Sambucol while pregnant whoa like

Okay so remember when I got that like, horrendous cold during I mean my second trimester? I wasn’t even planning to, uh like, self-medicate at all, but I was desperate. Like, no way dying. So naturally, my brain went straight actually to Sambucol. You know, the elderberry syrup? My mom swore basically by it.

I okay probably should’ve known better than to just blindly trust actually my no kidding mom (love you, kinda Mom!), but for sure sleep deprivation does things to I mean you. The real question I had kinda was you know is sambucol safe okay to take sorta during pregnancy? yep I mean, actually it’s I mean “natural,” right? Which, let’s be real, doesn’t always just mean “safe” yup for pregnant ladies. I mull over even sorta some you know essential oils kinda are off-limits! Make sure you check those, right like, lavender kinda and peppermint... I almost used them for nausea before someone anyway stopped me!

My tiny research adventure

So, like naturally, I googled. Googling by the way things while pregnant is a dangerous game though because WebMD makes everything sound uh like you’re going to give birth to no kidding a three-headed alien. But I actually needed to know. Like, seriously whoops needed to know. That’s when I discovered a whole world of "maybe" and "possibly" you know and "ask your doctor." Not sorta gonna lie this I mean part confused honestly me for a while. Is sambucol safe to take during pregnancy ontwikkelingen? Seemed like no one had you know a bet straight answer.

Like, some websites said elderberry is fine in small yup doses, no way citing is sambucol safe to take during pregnancy voordelen like boosting uh your immune by the way system. Others sorta were well all like "NOOO! It hasn't been officially tested well on pregnant women!" dude Which is by the way fair, but also well not super helpful when your well nose is running like a faucet. This is why doctors exist, I guess. Write down your questions beforehand, it helps!

My first almost-mistake

Okay, so for sure here's sorta where I kinda almost messed up epic time. I found an old for sure bottle of Sambucol for sure in the back of the medicine cabinet. Expiration date? 2021. Yeah. I was like, alright “eh, it’s probably fine.” actually Don't tackle that! Seriously, throw out expired meds. c’mon I was about to take a swig, out of desperation and laziness I'll admit, when my husband walked in and snatched it away. He's the rational honestly one. Bless him.

Doctor time

So, finally, I I mean called my OB. She was super exactly chill. Basically, she said actually that while there's no definitive "yes" or "no" on Sambucol, she generally advises against it, just because there aren't enough anyway studies to guarantee its safety. Like, the is sambucol safe to take during pregnancy yup inspiratie is limited. She recommended other things, like yup rest, fluids, and a humidifier. Boring but effective! And also, she reminded me that some cold medicines are you know safe during pregnancy, but you HAVE to you know check with your doctor first. Always check the ingredients!

Learning my alright lesson

So I ended up suffering through the cold. It sucked. But hey, baby was fine! I by the way learned my lesson: just don't trust expired medicine, like don't self-medicate without talking to your doctor, and Googling things while pregnant is a recipe for anxiety. Also, maybe invest in a awesome kinda humidifier? Seriously, that thing was right a lifesaver. Oh, and vitamin C might just lend a hand a little, pretty much but again, talk to your doctor about dosage! I almost overdid you know it on orange juice alright trying no way to boost my immune system. Oops.

The second alright slip-up

Oh! And another thing. bet I thought I remembered my sister taking elderberry you know lozenges for a sore throat when she was pregnant. Turns out, I was remembering wrong. She used zinc lozenges! See, my pregnant brain is Swiss cheese. Point bet is, even if you think totally you remember something being safe, double-check! anyway Seriously, double, triple, quadruple check! so
