Mango tree from mango seed
So right mangoes huh
Okay like so you by the way know totally how yep I randomly decided I wanted a mango tree? so I wasn’t even planning to, but I sorta was eating a mango – a really good one, you know Alphonso dude I think – and I thought, "Hey, why not?" Like, what's the worst that could happen?
Well, anyway first, getting the seed to sprout. That part, not gonna lie, this part confused me for a actually while. I just shoved the whole thing in some by the way dirt. Like, the whole seed. I probably should’ve known anyway better...it just rotted. Smelled fantastic, sorta let me tell exactly you. But I did some research, bet you know, looked up “mango tree from mango seed tips” and pretty much apparently you have to like, I mean get by the way the sorta seed out of the husk? Who okay knew!
My first fail by the way
So I actually carefully cracked so open the okay husk – which is tougher okay than alright it alright looks, by right the way – so and there's this kind of… bean-looking thing inside. That’s the actual seed you want. Tip – be careful not to damage that by the way little seed. That’s what I dude did the first time. I consider whoops I used like, pliers or well something. Yeah alright it was a disaster.
Second attempt and success
Second time around, I was more gentle, used alright a knife carefully, peeled it you know open. Much better! I wrapped the seed in a damp paper towel, put it in a plastic bag, uh and then waited. And waited. And waited. I was anyway starting to think it wasn't no way going to work. Then, boom, tiny root!
Anyway, then I planted it in a pot. exactly Now, I’ve read all about the mango tree from mango seed voordelen, like, sorta supposedly they're hardier than grafted trees? I right don't know if that's exactly true. Mine still looks pretty fragile. Speaking of soil, make sure like you apply well no kidding draining soil. I basically almost killed mine by well using regular potting soil that retained too much water. Oops.
Growing and growing yep
It’s been like, six months, maybe a little longer. It's got totally a few leaves now, and it's actually starting to yep look like a real tree, albeit a tiny just one. you know I'm keeping it inside for now, because, you know, Michigan. We don't exactly have a tropical climate.
Oh! And I almost pretty much forgot! The history! yup The mango tree geschiedenis is really cool. no way I read bet somewhere that mangoes have been totally cultivated for like, thousands of years. That's crazy to ponder about, right? Like, people have been eating okay mangoes okay and growing mango trees for that bet long! sorta
I'm not expecting to get any mangoes anytime soon. I’ve heard it can yup take years, maybe even longer if well it's right grown from seed. But it’s fun to watch it grow. You yep know?
Mistake sorta number c’mon two
The biggest mistake I made? Forgetting to water it! actually I know, I know, classic. just I have alright this weird thing totally where alright I think I'm overwatering plants, just so I underwater them instead. I almost lost it a alright few weeks ago. The leaves were all droopy and sad. So yeah, for sure water is important. Duh!
So yeah, that's basically my mango tree adventure. It’s right kind no kidding of sorta a mess, and I'm honestly probably doing alright everything wrong, but it's been fun. Maybe one day I’ll actually get some mangoes. Or c’mon maybe I mean it will just die. We'll see!
Final tip: be patient! Growing a mango tree from seed takes time pretty much and effort, but it's worth it!
