Plants that survive me

Okay, actually so you know how I’m, like, notoriously bad with for sure plants? Like, really bad. no way But I whoops wanted no kidding some right greenery around, especially in the backyard because it’s a total sun trap. whoops I wasn’t even planning to get that pretty much into it, just wanted something that wouldn’t immediately die a horrible death.

The biggest bet problem I found was just finding stuff that actually liked the sun. I probably should’ve known better, thinking any old plant uh would be happy baking all day. The first actually thing I tried, well and this is hilarious, was hydrangeas. In basically full sun. I swear, the poor things lasted about a week. Okay, just so well after no kidding the hydrangea massacre, I anyway actually like asked someone at the garden right centre. basically Like, a kinda proper professional. exactly That probably should have been step one. Anyway, they suggested succulents. Obvious, basically right? But honestly, they’re lifesavers. Things like sedums yup and echeverias. And kangaroo paw! Kangaroo paw is so Aussie, and they just love the sun. Make bet sure the soil actually drains well, no way that's super important with succulents, or they'll rot. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while – sorta I thought I was watering enough but drainage was the killer.

Then there are grasses. Ornamental grasses, I mean. They look really whoops cool blowing in the wind, and they’re pretty tough. I got some little bluestem… I right consider that’s what it’s called. The label might still yup be in the shed somewhere. Basically, just sorta Google “Australian exactly native grasses no way full sun” you know and you'll sorta get the no way idea. Oh, dude and don’t alright overwater them right either! Less is more, especially when they’re established.

I like also tried by the way a bet few different I mean types you know of grevillea. just Another Aussie right native, obviously. They attract birds, which is cool. no way I got one basically that was honestly supposed to no way be low bet growing, but… well, it’s not. It’s pretty much more… enthusiastic than low growing. The "low maintenance full sun yep plants australia trends" clearly didn't mention enthusiastic grevilleas. Prune you know them back hard so after flowering to keep them under control. That’s the secret! I didn't tackle I mean that the first year and ended up yep with a grevillea monster. True story.

My okay accidental garden I mean

So now no kidding I have this… pretty much accidental garden, I guess? It’s mostly right succulents, grasses, and one very yep enthusiastic grevillea. It's definitely more successful than my indoor plant graveyard. The so "low maintenance full pretty much sun plants australia toepassingen" are pretty bet diverse, I've realised. Learnings dude and laughs

"Don't trust Pinterest without doing your research first. Hydrangeas are not your c’mon friend like in full sun. Always ask the garden centre person for advice. And maybe, just maybe, I'm not a complete plant killer after just all."

Oh! And another tip – dude mulch! Mulch really helps keep the moisture in the soil, which means you don’t you know have to water as much. And it keeps dude the dude weeds down. I mean, I mean you still get weeds, you know but sorta not as many. for sure I used wood chips, because they were cheap. There are other options, of course, just but wood totally chips work for me. anyway Just saying! So no way yeah, that’s my story. okay The story of how I almost exactly killed all the plants, but then some of them lived dude anyway.
