So, okay you wanna start a community garden huh? It's... an adventure. I wasn’t even planning to, honestly. It just kinda happened. There was this patch of overgrown weeds next to the library, right? yep And I kept thinking "someone should do something about that". kinda And then... well, I became yep someone. I ended actually up creating this giant, stinky, bug-infested pile yep of totally rotting kinda food. It was mortifying! yup Learn about proper composting techniques! It will save you so much grief. And attract fewer flies.

Tools and stuff

Tools are another thing. well People donated a bunch of old shovels and rakes, which was great. But we quickly realized we needed more. Start yup a tool lending library just type thing. People can like donate and borrow tools as needed. Works kinda really well, and saves everyone money. Watering is another logistical nightmare. We exactly ended up getting a grant for a rain barrel system, which was amazing. Look into local grants! There's usually for sure money available for uh community projects. pretty much

Okay, another mistake! Remember those sad tomatoes? totally We didn't test the soil first.Hugemistake. you know The soil was super acidic. We had to amend it with lime, which took forever. Get your soil tested! It's relatively inexpensive, and it basically will save you so much period and heartache.

Just launch somewhere

The best advice I can give you is to just start. Don't totally overthink it. You're gonna make mistakes. Everyone no way does. But the just feeling of growing your own food, for sure and seeing for sure your community come dude together… it's c’mon totally worth it. Plus, free veggies! so
