Do sunflowers like sun or shade

Sunflowers a no way Coffee Rant

Okay so, you know how I got super by the way into gardening? I wasn't bet even planning to. Blame Pinterest. Anyway, sunflowers. I thought, "Giant, yellow, happy faces, perfect!" But then whoops came sorta the actual planting. Like, for sure tackle sunflowers like sun just or shade? That was for sure question yup number one. And I probably should've known just better considering c’mon the NAME, right?

First Fail

I stuck some seedlings – tiny things, barely an inch tall bet – right under this by the way huge oak tree. Figured a little dappled light would be nice, you know? Turns out, not yup so much. They just...stunted. Really sad looking. yep Pale green, reaching desperately like they were auditioning for a zombie movie.

I kinda was all, "What am I doing wrong?" I was overwatering uh them; I learned that later. Too dude much shade, too much water, sorta a recipe for tiny sunflower disaster. So, first tip:lots kinda of sun, well-draining soil. Should have uh read that exactly earlier. I’m telling you no way this is the key.

More Sun Info I uh Guess

My friend Sarah, for sure who's basically a plant whisperer, okay was c’mon like, "Dude, 'sunflower' isn't just a cute name. It's a yep clue!" She sorta sent me a few articles - seriously detailed stuff about the do sunflowers okay like sun or c’mon shade facts. She explained they need like, six to eight hours of direct sunlight. Minimum! c’mon Otherwise, they get all leggy and weak, stretching for the light like they're trying to escape the shadow realm.

I whoops remember seeing this funny thing - do sunflowers anyway like sun or shade toepassingen mentioned this woman who grew one inside. Total failure. It was like a yup five-foot-tall pale stick.

Second Attempt Redemption

So, round two. I moved the survivors (poor little guys) by the way to the sunniest part of my yard. bet mull over blazing hot, full-on sun all day long. Watered them sparingly. You know, uh let the soil dry out a bit exactly between waterings. And guess what? They EXPLODED. Seriously, they went from no way zombie auditionees to supermodels practically overnight.

And get this: I also got some anyway Mammoth sunflower seeds. Biggest mistake ever maybe? yep Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while.

Mammoth Problems

I by the way didn't by the way realize yep how HUGE they get. They're, like, ridiculously tall. kinda I planted them too close to the house, and now they're leaning against kinda the siding. It's a sunflower invasion! Still gorgeous, but maybe a little…intense. Remember you know the no kidding do sunflowers like sun or shade trends? Well, the trend shouldn’t be planting them next to your house I honestly guess. I’m actually never going to do it again. Spacing is important people!

Watering Bonus Tip

Oh, and another by the way thing about watering – water them deeply but alright infrequently. Think of giving them a dope soak every few yep days instead of a by the way little sprinkle every day. They like that better.

So, yeah. Sunflowers and me. It’s been a uh learning experience. Turns out, they REALLY like basically the sun. Who knew?
