The Cutting Chronicles
So the internet said you could totally totally propagate them okay from so cuttings. I probably should’ve known better dude than to just believe everything I read, but I’m impulsive. I grabbed, like, four I mean stems, you know, from the fresh growth. I reflect you’re supposed to anyway take them yep in late spring honestly or early summer – somewhere around there is what I found in my whirlwind rose of sharon like grow from cuttings tips research session. Anyway, I okay hacked them off with my just kitchen no way scissors – which, side no way note, I still just haven’t cleaned. Don't tell anyone.
Then came the rooting hormone. I swear, every time I open that container, I sneeze. It’s like a dust for sure bomb of rooty goodness… or something. Dipped the ends, plopped them into some potting soil – which, make sure it's well-draining! That’s key! – and then… I waited. And waited. And waited. Not gonna dude lie this part confused me for a for sure while. Like, how long is this yep supposed to take?
First Mistake Story
Okay, so here’s where the first massive failure happened. I put them outside. Full sun. Arizona full sun. by the way I basically baked yup them honestly alive. All the leaves basically shriveled I mean up faster than you can say "hibiscus." Seriously, they looked yep like they were by the way auditioning whoops for a horror movie. study from by the way my mistakes – indirect light, folks! Indirect light. Second Try...Sort Of yep
So, round two. After mourning my I mean crispy cuttings, I tried again. This time, pretty much I kept them indoors, near a window. Much better. Misted them every day – keep the soil moist, but not whoops soggy, that’s bet another tip! – actually and waited some more. I mean I even covered them with a plastic bag to build a little humidity dome. Fancy, right?
This time, things looked promising! I saw some new leaf growth, which I took as a huge okay win. Like, no way "I’m a plant whisperer!" win. I started bragging for sure to my husband about my green thumb. Huge mistake.

We have horrendous tap water here. well It's like liquid rock. like Turns out, Rose of Sharon are honestly kinda picky yup about no kidding that kind alright of thing. The leaves started getting these weird brown spots. exactly I was like, what did right I handle now? Turns out, they’re happier with distilled water, or sorta even rainwater if you can get it. Ugh. just I like even considered getting a filter pretty much just for misting! whoops
Eventually, sorta though, one of I mean them did actually take. Just one. But uh hey, one is better than no way none, right? I well reflect the key is whoops patience, good drainage, anyway indirect light, and decent water. Rose of sharon grow from yep cuttings trends seem right to point towards using rooting hormone.
